Joel Weger, a Wisconsin native, joined the John Wesley University in August of 2015 and oversees all athletic training needs for John Wesley University.
Before assuming his current role, he was the athletic trainer for 6 Points Sports Academy and is currently the Head Athletic Trainer for the summer camp located at the American Hebrew Academy in Greensboro, NC. Joel also provides athletic training coverage for Select Physical Therapy in the Greensboro and Winston-Salem area.
Prior to joining John Wesley University, Weger was a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Southwest Minnesota State University for two years where he also served as an adjunct professor in teaching Introduction to Athletic Training, Physical Anatomy, and First Aid/CPR in addition to his athletic trainer duties.
Working closely with the John Wesley University coaching staff and student athletes, Joel plays an integral role evaluating each athlete’s daily physical and mental well-being. Joel is responsible for overseeing each student athlete’s safety when participating in daily training, evaluating injuries or conditions occurring during athletic events and providing rehabilitation and treatment methods focused on the well-being of John Wesley University student athletes. He has also worked alongside physical therapists, sports performance coaches, and the coaching staffs to implement injury prevention exercise programs into each team’s unique routine.
