Coach Chelsea Jones comes to John Wesley University from nearby Salem College where she served as an assistant coach this past season, after a standout career as a student-athlete the previous four seasons.

During her playing career, Jones made Salem College Athletic History in 2012 by becoming the first athlete in any sport to earn Great South Athletic Conference Most Valuable Player, while leading her team to Salem’s first GSAC Conference Title and NCAA Tournament bid. She has been coaching club for five years and is currently a coach for the Salem College based Spirits Volleyball Club. Jones graduated from Salem with a major in education and a minor in coaching.

“Chelsea brings a wonderful spirit and a positive energy to our Volleyball program. Her desire to build a successful team starts with her recruiting efforts. She and her assistant have learned some very valuable lessons this first year, and with the help of their returning players, I see a strong base coming together for next Fall,” John Wesley President, Dr. Steve Condon said. “We are very proud of this team, and these young ladies are special to our campus leadership. They reflect Chelsea’s personal ethic and servant heart.”

Jones reflects,”I am truly blessed to have the opportunity to begin my journey at John Wesley University while helping to build the volleyball program’s future.
